Galtür must be one of the idyllic all year round destinations and one of the lucky resorts to boast a strong summer tourist business.
For a start, it has that typical Tirolean village charm which we all adore: the peaceful village square and surrounding shops, bakery and restaurants. It’s a far cry from the hustle and bustle of Ischgl which is 10 minutes away on the bus.
Check out the free Silvretta Card which represents a great deal for making most of your summer stay by clicking here and viewing the online brochure.
The upper part of the Paznaun valley is renowned for its clear air and glorious walking areas with official pathways totalling 300km and thanks to the use of the lift system and gondolas, walkers and mountain bikers can quickly get to the top of the mountain to make the most of their time before either walking or riding back down or taking the lift again.

As a well-known ‘Luftkurort’ or ‘air spa’, Galtür receives many return visitors each year who seek sanctuary away from the lowlands where the pollen count can make their life misery. Thanks to the high standard of air quality and almost pollen-free air, allergy sufferers can enjoy long days without any of the typical eye irritations, sneezing bouts or coughing or shortness of breath.
Between May and October, our guests can relax in the village at an altitude of 1,600m in the clean mountain air and literally feel their symptoms subsiding within moments of arrival. Our mild and stimulating climate also strengthens circulation whilst body fat is more easily broken down.
10 years ago, an initiative was launched to improve the quality of the local Alpenvereinshütten association in collaboration with chef-of-the-century Eckart Witzigmann in the form of the first version of the Culinary Jakobsweg. The aim was to skilfully present the exceptional local produce while also preserving the traditional mountain lodge fare. This succeeded through the merger of award-winning cuisine and local quality produce. 43 renowned top international chefs have now developed innovative dishes to make walking a theme for gourmets too. This allows us to bring award-winning cuisine to guests away from the gourmet temples. A successful combination confirmed by our many imitations! We are looking forward to lots more mountain summers packed with culinary walking moments!
